D’Ambra Construction was started, if you can believe it , nearly 50 years ago in 1967. Since eight out of the ten or so contractors that you might be considering hiring for your project won’t even be around in the next two years, let alone fifty!, it’s probably a pretty good idea to only consider one that you know will be around down the road just in case you need them. After all, there is a reason WHY we’ve been around so long, especially in the business that relies nearly solely on referrals.
So why has D’Ambra been so successful over the years? Like many success stories, D’Ambra Construction started from very humble beginnings. Dennis D’Ambra, founder and current president, began in the mid 1960’s building backyard waterfront docks and custom homes throughout the first developements in Huntington Harbor along with some of the fourplexes and duplexes you find downtown. Then, in 1967, D’Ambra Construction was launched out of a small home office in Huntington Beach. Much of Huntington Beach’s large track developments were built during this time and soon those families were starting to already outgrow their new homes. Since many of these homes were only built with on average around 1,300 to 1,500 square feet, you can see how easy it is to outgrow that amount of space when you start having two and three kids, not to mention pets! It was the perfect time to start in the remodeling/addition business because it allowed Mr. D’Ambra to build his reputation for not just building a quality product among all these new homeowners in the area, but also become one of the dominant builders that everyone soon became to know as the company to go to if you wanted it done right.
In 1975, the company outgrew the home office and a new office was converted from a run down old house in Westminster, located today at 7744 Westminster Blvd. The company occupied that office for nearly 11 years before moving down the street to a much larger office building which was purchased in the mid 1980’s. The new space was needed to also make room for Mrs. D’Ambra’s tax preparation business, C.A.T.S. Tax Service.
In 2004, D’Ambra Construction continued to grow thanks to our ever-growing list of satisfied customers continuing to refer us to their friends and families and bought an empty lot in Huntington Beach located at 7752 Warner Ave, just west of the corner of Beach Blvd. and Warner Ave. where both D’Ambra Construction and C.A.T.S. Tax Service operate from today.
